Smith Church sponsors three youth groups – The SCENE for grades 1 through 5, RBA for grades 6 - 8, and InCasts for grades 9 - 12. All groups are open to all youth in Hillsboro and the surrounding communities, and thrive on the representation of youth from all church affiliations (or no affiliation). We capitalize on those qualities that all faiths have in common.
The S.C.E.N.E. (Smith Church Enjoys Nurturing Everyone) for grades 1 through 5, meets once a month on Thursday nights at the Dubben House from 5–6:30 p.m. at Smith Church. If you would like more information about this group and/or are interested in joining, please contact Barbara Daley (464-5239 or firstname.lastname@example.org), or Keith Audette (680-0484 or email@example.com)
RBA is sponsored by, and based out, of Smith Memorial Congregational Church in Hillsboro and open to all kids in grades 6, 7, and 8. The group meets every Tuesday night from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. downstairs at Smith Church. RBA thrives on the representation of young people from all denominations (or no denomination) in its membership. We capitalize on those qualities that all faiths have in common. We recognize that each person has individual weaknesses, but also has individual and unique strengths. RBA is a high-end, adventure-based peer group aimed at providing social growth and confidence-building opportunities for all participants. Much of the planning of what we do during the year is done by group consensus. We can guarantee that throughout the year, RBA will provide its members the chance to downhill and cross-country ski; to load, paddle and live out of a canoe; to cook over a campfire; to travel to and enjoy cities like Boston, New York, Washington, DC; to find the joy of making a difference in our service projects; to express our musical creativity; to explore our faith and our understanding of what it means to be a positive member of a community; to develop the skills needed for social interaction; to build a foundation for positive self-esteem; and above all, to have the incredible fun of being part of a group of fantastic young adults in a proven peer experience.
InCasts, like RBA, thrives on the representation of young people from all denominations (or no denomination) in its membership. For those of you eligible to join InCasts (grades 9-12), we meet every Tuesday night from 7:15 - 9:00 p.m. downstairs at Smith Church. If you would like more information about this older youth group, and/or are interested in joining, please contact Rusty Wightman (401-8223 or firstname.lastname@example.org).
